ICTEROTIS) PARA EL DEPARTAMENTO DEL TOLIMA

Resumen: El Loro Orejiamarillo (Ognorhynchus icterotis) es una especie
críticamente amenazada en Colombia del la cual sólo se conocen actualmente dos
poblaciones geográficamente aisladas. Sin embargo, registros históricos e
información reciente señalan algunas localidades de la cordillera Central como
lugares potenciales para encontrar a esta especie. Realizamos un registro
visual y auditivo en un área de vegetación alterada con presencia de Ceroxylon quindiuense ubicada en la
parte alta de la cuenca del rió Navarco, municipio de Cajamarca (Tolima). Este
registro podría alertar sobre la presencia de una nueva población para
Colombia, lo que podría convertirse en una posibilidad más para su
conservación.

Abstract: The Yellow-eared Parrot
(Ognorhynchus icterotis) is a
globally critically endangered species currently known from only two isolated
populations. However, historical records and recent information suggest that
the species might occur on other localities in the Cordillera
Central. We found this parrot in the surroundings of the Navarco
river basin, Cajamarca municipality, Tolima. We obtained visual and auditory
records of O. icterotis,
suggesting the existence of a new population for Colombia, which hopefully will
improve prospects for its conservation.

ICTEROTIS) EN EL NORTE DE ANTIOQUIA

Resumen: Realizamos una búsqueda intensiva
del Loro Orejiamarillo (Ognorhynchus
icterotis) en el altiplano norte de la Cordillera Central
en el departamento de Antioquia, con el objeto de confirmar la presencia de la
especie y registrar información sobre su historia natural, teniendo como
precedente los registros históricos de la especie en esta región y la presencia
de hábitat remanentes con presencia de palma de cera (Ceroxylon quindiuense). Logramos confirmar la presencia del loro en
la zona con la observación de varios grupos pequeños de individuos desplazándose
en un área extensa del altiplano en la vertiente norte de la cordillera.
Sugerimos algunas localidades como sitios potenciales de dormideros e
identificamos algunas amenazas para la supervivencia de la especie en la zona.

Abstract: We conducted an intensive search of
the Yellow-eared Parrot (Ognorhynchus icterotis) in the Northern high plain of
the Central Cordillera in Antioquia Province, directed to confirm the presence
of the species and to record information about its natural history based on the
historical records of the species in the region and the presence of remnants
habitats with Wax Palm (Ceroxylon quindiuense). We achieved to confirm the
presence of the Parrot in the area, sighting several small flocks of
individuals moving across an extensive region of the high plain in the Northern
slope of the Cordillera. We suggest some locations as potential roosting areas
and identified some threats for the survivorship of the species in the zone.
